Shanghai 2021

Shanghai

I traveled to Shanghai for a 3 days' trip in April 2021, almost a year after the Covid-19 pandemic started. I arrived at Hongqiao Railway Station on the afternoon of April 24 and was surprised that there were no checks whatsoever upon arrival: no health code or NAT test was required, nor did any worker check my temperature like I would have expected. I stayed at Manyi Hotel, located on Changning Road, within walking distance of Jiangsu Road Subway station. After showing the receptionist my green health code I was allowed to my room without further questioning. The first day of my trip was unusually foggy:

The next day, Sunday - April 25 was a much nicer day. Warm, sunny and clear:

The Bund area was as always bustling with tourists going about their lives. Nobody was wearing masks outside, but while riding the subway, bus or DiDi I noticed everyone was masked. So I am hopeful that things will return to normal soon, especially as vaccination is currently underway.
