Lhasa Arrival


Today you are supposed to arrive in Lhasa. Upon arrival, you will be warmly welcomed by our guide and driver and transfer to the reserved hotel.  The rest of the time, you can take some time rest and get better acclimatization. It is recommended not to drink any alcohol today, easy to get altitude sickness.

Lhasa City Tour 1

The first two days you are in Tibet will be put towards sightseeing inside Lhasa, to visit fabulous and typical Buddhist and historic sites, such as Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street, Sera Monastery, and Drepung Monastery. 


In Potala palace, you can explore the grandest of this myriad chapel, its audience halls, the jeweled and Golden burial chortens(stupa Tombs) of past Dalai Lamas, and a tremendous number of Buddhist frescoes, thangkas, combinations of mandala, figures of the Buddha 


You will visit 3 important monasteries in Lhasa, the first and foremost is Johkang Temple, the spiritual center of Tibetan Buddhism, which attracts pilgrims all over the Tibetan Area, built during songtsen gonpo’s reign by the princess wencheng of the tang dynasty, 647 A.D.

Lhasa City Tour 2

The schedules on the second and third days are all Lasa city tours.


The other two Monasteries Sera and Drepung Monastery located in the suburb of Lhasa, are hosted by hundreds of Monks, learning, praying, studying, living there. The famous Monk debiting is held in the courtyard of Sera Monastery in the afternoon (except Sunday). 


You will also explore the circular pilgrim route Barkhor while traveling at Johkang Temple, to contact local folks here, and if possible purchase some traditional Tibetan artifacts, religious implements, antiques, books, Tibetan music instruments, Thangkas, and traditional Tibetan clothes, etc.

Day hike to Papongka

In the morning, we will drive to cliff-side Pabonka Palace 15km from the city center, and visit the holy cave where Songtsen Gampo the 33rd Tibetan king used to meditate.


From here, we start the day trek; hike for 30 minutes northeast up to Tashi Chöling Hermitage passing through a distance view of sky-burial place but tourists are not allowed to visit and take photos.


After a short break at Tashi Choling, hike continuously for about 40 minutes, ascending 300m by alternative trails to a cliffside hermitage called Tagden Ritro, where you enjoy clear spring water, birds singing, and a gorgeous panoramic view of Lhasa city and we can enjoy the lunch box here.


From here no more ascent, slide descending towards Sera Ütse hermitage another 40minutes walk, the panoramic view of Lhasa is wider and wider. And finally, trek further for over an hour more to Purbu Jog Monastery via Raka Drak hermitage. Through this section of hiking, you can see the spectacular scenery of both Nyangra and Thokde valley.


After visiting Purbu Jog this small beautiful monastery, you will be picked up by your driver nearby the monastery and finish your hike.

Tibet countryside trek from Ganden Monastery to Trubushi village

In the morning, we will drive to Ganden Monastery which is situated on the Wangpori Mountain with an elevation of 3800m above sea level and is considered to be one of the “Great Three” Gelugpa monasteries, founded by the Great Tsongkhapa in 1409. It is very interesting to go for Lingkor (circuit) around the monastery and tourists can see the Great Tsongkapa’s meditation cave and the beautiful view of Lhasa valley. The Ling kora will take about 2- 3 hours to complete.


Then we drive to Tibetan village Trubshi with an altitude of nearly 3400m where you can experience the Tibetan countryside life and have dinner with them and spend a night there.

Day trek in Trubushi village

In the Morning, you may do some trekking in Trubshi village which is known as one of the most beautiful Tibetan villages for trekking. You can also do the family chores available at that time. Tibet's famous trekking route from Ganden to Samye monastery starts from this village. You may ride a horse (or Yak) (Horse riding is not free, please discuss the price with local people).


After lunch at Tibetan Family in Trubshi, we will say goodbye to the hospitable Tibetan family and return back to Lhasa. We will reach Lhasa at about 3 pm. The rest of the day is for relaxation. You can walk around and do some shopping by yourself.

You can enjoy the time before your flight/train departs. See you off at Lhasa airport or train station and end up the service.



Important Notice

●Tips for Visiting Potala Palace
-The number of visitors to the palace is strictly limited to 2,300 per day. Visitors can only visit during the time specified on the admission ticket.
-Admission tickets to visit the Potala Palace are sold out almost every day, so it is strongly recommended to book your tickets several days in advance.
-There are many steps at the Potala Palace, so it’s best to take it slowly to avoid possible altitude discomfort.
-Visitors should respect the rules while visiting. Do not wear hats, wear revealing clothes or step on thresholds as these actions violate local customs.
-Photography and the taking of videos are forbidden inside the Potala Palace.
-A security search will take place at the entrance to the palace. Explosives, flammables, knives, lighters, and even water bottles are not allowed inside the Potala Palace.

●Travel Tip
With its much higher elevation, some visitors may experience symptoms of altitude sickness. We recommend taking everything slowly, getting plenty of rest the first day, and staying very well hydrated by drinking plenty of water to minimize the effects of the high altitude. Usually, you will be fine by the second day, but if you do experience severe and/ or worsening symptoms, please contact your tour guide or a member of our staff immediately.

●Documents needed to apply for Tibet Permit for foreigners living and working in Mainland China.
1. A picture of your green health code of your residential city, with your full name clearly displayed; it would be better to provide your COVID-19 vaccination record if you have one, though not necessary
2. A clear photo or scanned copy of your passport
3. A clear photo or scanned copy of your Chinese visa or residence permit
4. A recent Covid-19 test result copy (suggested within 7 days) (need to provide when applying for a permit)
5. A clear photo or scanned copy of your work certificate / work permit / working card / student card or invitation letter
6. A letter to prove that you have already been in Mainland China for at least 90 days (can be provided either by your workplace or your local residential committee; if you are retired or currently don’t have a job, please prepare one of your immediate family members’ letter to prove that he/she has already been in Mainland China with you for at least 28 days, with your relationship with him/her identified.
7. Name of the city where you will take departure to Tibet, which has to be exactly the same as the one on your future boarding pass or train ticket to Tibet. (Can’t be changed once decided and submitted)
8. A picture of your travel history in the past 14 days (Green Arrow)
